The Science Guys of San Diego offer FUN, hands-on children’s science programs, including science camps, parties, after-school clubs, workshops, in-school field trips & assemblies, festivals, and special event shows throughout the San Diego area!

Meet the Science Guys

Professor Katalyst

Kathryn Beamon, Owner

Kathryn grew up in Guateamala, and her passion for teaching children started at a young age. Kathryn earned a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and worked in public education in Tennessee for 13 years. Kathryn began working for the Science Guys of Nashville in 2016. In 2022, Kathryn and Chuck moved to California and started the Science Guys of San Diego!

Kathryn is fluent in Spanish and offers programs in both languages! She also teaches Cuban Salsa & Hip Hop Line Dancing!

Professor Chicken

Chuck Beamon, Owner

Chuck grew up in Charlotte, NC and earned a Bachelor of Business Management from the University of Iowa. Chuck and Kathryn first met working together at a children’s summer camp, and were married in 2016. Chuck worked in hotel and retail management in Tennesee for 14 years. In 2022, Kathryn and Chuck moved to California and started the Science Guys of San Diego!

Chuck LOVES chicken! Ask him what kind of chicken is his favorite! He also likes his cucumbers pickled!

Science Sav

Savannah was born and raised in San Diego, where her love for the ocean began through exploring the tide pools with her family. Savannah earned a Bachelor of Marine Science and Biological Oceanography at Hawaii Pacific University. Savannah was a part of the Universe of Hawaii Marine Mammal Stranding Program and would assist with necropsies of stranded toothed whales across the Hawaiian Islands and American Samoa. She was also involved with the Analytical Chemistry Lab at HPU where she studied stress hormones among pregnant cetaceans. Upon graduation, Savannah worked aboard an eco-tourism cruise ship in Alaska and the Pacific NorthWest before moving back to San Diego to start a family.

Professor Banana

Hannah grew up in Southern California and earned a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science from Cal Poly SLO. She is now working towards her MFA at Eastern Oregon University. She worked as a K-12 lab instructor and tutor before joining the Science Guys team in 2023. 

Hannah loves reading, watching anime with her housemates, and finding the best burritos in San Diego!

    We had a Science Party for my 6 year old. The party included 28 kids ranging in age from 9 to 4 and each one was fully engaged for a full 90 minutes. Professor Katalyst was great with the kids, keeping them controlled and safe but making sure they had a lot of fun at the same time. She also made the birthday boy feel really special by allowing him to be the "special assistant." I added the rocket launch which was a hit. The kids really liked making bouncy balls and slime too.

My daughter is four years old and I wasn't too sure if she would pay attention for the whole hour and a half but she did! This was a great choice for kids entertainment because not only did they laugh and play but they learned a lot of new things too. Kathryn was amazing as well, super patient with the kids and so enthusiastic. I would recommend Science Guys a hundred times over!
